La seconda call di SMURF – Soggetto Multifunzionale per l’Uso Responsabile delle Foreste è ufficialmente partita e ASFO Valli delle Sorgenti ne fa parte, confermando la qualità del percorso avviato e il ruolo crescente dell’ASFO nella gestione forestale coordinata del territorio. SMURF è un modello innovativo che riunisce proprietari, enti locali, tecnici, associazioni e comunità per costruire una gestione del bosco condivisa, multifunzionale e orientata al futuro. Il suo obiettivo è superare la frammentazione fondiaria, valorizzare le conoscenze locali, attivare nuove filiere e trasformare il bosco in un bene comune vivo, capace di generare biodiversità, lavoro, cultura e paesaggio.
In questo quadro, ASFO Valli delle Sorgenti sta crescendo rapidamente. Nata nel 2021, oggi riunisce 52 proprietari forestali e rappresenta 182 ettari distribuiti su più comuni delle Prealpi lombarde. Il numero degli aderenti e delle superfici coinvolte continua ad aumentare, segno di una fiducia crescente e di un bisogno reale di gestione coordinata. I boschi dell’ASFO, caratterizzati da castagno, faggio, orniello e robinia, sono organizzati attraverso un Piano di Gestione Forestale che identifica tre aree distinte, le descrive nel dettaglio e definisce per ciascuna obiettivi, interventi e strategie di cura. Questo strumento garantisce visione, continuità e una base solida per valorizzare risorse come la biomassa, i frutti e i piccoli frutti, sostenute principalmente da fondi pubblici.
La partecipazione alla seconda call di SMURF apre una nuova fase di sviluppo e permette di consolidare un modello di governance forestale moderno, trasparente e orientato alla comunità. È un percorso in movimento, che merita di essere seguito passo dopo passo.
The second call of SMURF – Multifunctional Entity for the Responsible Use of Forests has officially begun, and ASFO Valli delle Sorgenti is part of it, confirming the quality of the work carried out so far and the growing role of the ASFO in coordinated forest management across the territory. SMURF is an innovative model that brings together forest owners, local authorities, technicians, associations and communities to build a shared, multifunctional and future‑oriented approach to forest management. Its goal is to overcome land fragmentation, enhance local knowledge, activate new value chains and transform the forest into a living common good capable of generating biodiversity, employment, culture and landscape.
Within this framework, ASFO Valli delle Sorgenti is expanding rapidly. Established in 2021, it now brings together 52 forest owners and represents 182 hectares across several municipalities in the Lombardy Prealps. Both membership and managed forest area continue to grow, reflecting increasing trust and a clear need for coordinated management. The ASFO’s forests—dominated by chestnut, beech, manna ash and black locust—are organised through a Forest Management Plan that identifies three distinct areas, describes them in detail and defines objectives, interventions and long‑term strategies for each. This tool provides structure, vision and continuity, enabling the enhancement of resources such as biomass, fruits and wild berries, supported primarily through public funding.
Participation in the second SMURF call opens a new phase of development and strengthens a modern, transparent and community‑oriented model of forest governance. In the coming months, we will share updates, videos, articles and interviews to offer a closer look at the people, places and transformations underway. This is a dynamic process, and following it step by step will allow everyone to witness how the Valli delle Sorgenti are evolving through shared care and responsible forest management.
